Our Vision for The People’s Mic
Poetry has always been central to revolutionary movements – from the Harlem Renaissance to the Black Arts Movement, from protest songs to spoken word activism. The People’s Mic continues this tradition, creating space where community members can share their stories, connect individual struggles to broader patterns of injustice, and envision alternatives rooted in community power.
We believe that when people have space to speak their truth, name their experiences, and imagine together, we build the foundation for collective action and systemic change.
