The Defy Action Network: Building Collective Power Through Civil Rights Monitoring, Advocacy, and Community Health”

We are a collective of activists, legal observers, community health workers, and organizers working to track, report, and challenge systemic civil rights violations while building infrastructure for health and justice in marginalized communities.

About Defy Action Network

The Defy Action Network (DAN) is a grassroots collective focused on empowering communities to take action against civil rights violations and systemic injustice. Through collaboration with legal experts, community health workers, and local activists, DAN helps monitor violations, provide resources, and build community-driven solutions. This initiative is inspired by Fred Hampton’s vision of community organizing and collective power, ensuring that all voices are heard and all communities have the resources to fight back against racial and social inequities.

DAN works to:

Track Civil Rights Violations

Our team of trained legal observers and community monitors keep a watchful eye on police misconduct, unlawful detentions, housing violations, and other forms of discrimination.

Organize for Justice

DAN coordinates local campaigns, community organizing, and advocacy efforts, pushing for systemic changes through grassroots action and policy reform

Provide Community Health Resources

We provide direct access to health support, mental health resources, and community health workers who assist in navigating the healthcare system.

How We Work

How Defy Action Network Works

DAN is powered by the dedication and passion of our members. Here’s how we make change happen:

01

Civil Rights Observation & Reporting

Our network of trained legal observers and community monitors are on the ground, documenting civil rights violations such as police brutality, unlawful detentions, and housing discrimination. They report these violations through our platform, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Members can sign up for training sessions on legal observation to become part of this initiative.

02

Community Health Workers

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are vital to our work, offering direct assistance with health resources, mental health support, and navigating healthcare systems. They serve as a bridge to the most vulnerable populations in our communities.

Join the network to access training for becoming a CHW or connect with health resources available to you.

04

Training & Education

DAN offers workshops and training programs on a variety of issues, from civil rights law to community health and wellness. We also provide opportunities for leadership development, empowering individuals to become local change-makers.
