Creative Liberation
Creative Innovation
We believe healing is a critical step toward collective action. Through Healing Circles, we bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds to share their stories, build solidarity, and co-create solutions. These dialogues blend traditional practices with modern formats—such as spoken word events, open mic brunches, and LGBTQ+-focused gatherings—to foster trust and collaboration.
Rooted Justice Institute
Leadership Development
Systemic inequities disproportionately affect young people, who are often excluded from decision-making processes. Through our youth programs, we train the next generation of Advocacy & Community Health Leaders to use tools like the AI Advocacy Assistant to advocate for systemic change.
Collective Building & Partnerships
Collective Approach
Systemic change requires collaboration. We partner with grassroots organizations, academic institutions, businesses, and policymakers to scale our impact and ensure accountability to the communities we serve.

Community Leaders
Change begins with the people. We empower community members—activists, educators, parents, and youth—to lead movements for racial justice, ensuring that those most impacted are at the forefront of advocacy and solutions.

Grassroots Organizations
We collaborate with grassroots organizations that are deeply embedded in their communities, leveraging their expertise and networks to drive systemic change, amplify marginalized voices, and build collective power.

Academic Institutions
“By partnering with universities and research institutions, we bridge data, policy, and lived experience to drive evidence-based advocacy, advance racial equity, and cultivate the next generation of change makers.

Local Businesses
Equity is everyone’s business. We work with mission-aligned companies and entrepreneurs to invest in solutions that dismantle systemic barriers, create inclusive workplaces, and drive social impact beyond profit.

Our Story
A Resounding Demand for Justice
Defy Racism Collective (DRC) was born out of a profound frustration with the pervasive and enduring nature of systemic racism—a force that continues to shape access to housing, education, healthcare, legal protections, and countless other aspects of life. For decades, activists, scholars, and community leaders have worked tirelessly to dismantle these inequities, yet structural barriers persist, often reinforced by opaque policies, bureaucratic red tape, and entrenched power dynamics. It became increasingly clear that traditional methods of advocacy were insufficient in addressing the scale and complexity of the problem. This realization sparked a bold question: Could technology—often criticized as a tool of oppression or exclusion—be reimagined as a catalyst for justice?
Communities affected by systemic racism often found themselves trapped in cycles of disadvantage because they lacked critical resources: real-time information about their rights, actionable insights into policy changes, and platforms to amplify their voices. Without these tools, even well-intentioned efforts at advocacy could falter against the overwhelming weight of institutional inertia. Our founder recognized that while grassroots movements had long been the backbone of progress, they needed new strategies—ones that leveraged the power of modern technology to level the playing field.
This vision crystallized into what would become the cornerstone of DRC’s mission: creating technology-driven solutions that empower people to challenge systemic inequities directly. At its core, this approach is rooted in the belief that technology can be democratized—that it can serve as more than a mechanism of control wielded by those in power. Instead, it can function as a liberatory tool when placed in the hands of those who need it most. With this guiding principle, our founder set out to design initiatives that combined cutting-edge innovation with grassroots activism, ensuring that every project was grounded in the lived experiences of marginalized communities.
From Idea to Action: The Birth of the AI Advocacy Assistant
One of DRC’s earliest—and most transformative—initiatives emerged from this vision: the AI Advocacy Assistant, a groundbreaking tool designed to equip individuals and organizations with the knowledge and capabilities needed to navigate complex systems and advocate for systemic change. The idea behind the AI Advocacy Assistant stemmed from a simple yet powerful observation: many people struggling against systemic racism lacked access to timely, accurate, and actionable information. For example, someone trying to contest an unjust eviction might struggle to understand their legal options, locate relevant case law, or identify local resources for support. Similarly, parents advocating for better educational opportunities for their children might find themselves overwhelmed by dense policy documents or unsure of how to engage decision-makers effectively.
A Commitment to Justice: Looking Ahead
As DRC continues to grow, its mission remains steadfast: disrupting oppressive systems, democratizing access to critical information, and ensuring that marginalized communities have the tools they need to demand justice and accountability. Each new initiative builds upon the lessons learned from previous efforts, refining strategies and expanding possibilities. Looking ahead, DRC envisions a future where technology is no longer seen as a barrier to equity but as a vital ally in the fight for justice. By continuing to innovate, collaborate, and center the voices of those most impacted by systemic racism, DRC strives to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive free from the constraints of prejudice and inequality.
